Dear Diary,

I must admit to the truth for which I am too ashamed. I thought this marriage would save me, bring me security and prosperity and status. He charmed me with gifts and promises I’d never want for anything or go hungry, that I’d be loved and admired by all. I worked so hard to make this true love, and I’m too fearful to leave.
